Presumably when a date for a planning appeal is set, we can turn up and talk about what an asset it is to the community &c? Not that there's any reason to expect the council will actually listen to us, of course.
Sorry - why wouldn't you apply for planning permission? Even if they did ask the Council informally if they needed permission, their architect should have flagged this up. It's a bit of an amateur mistake, although obviously the new area is rather nice. One thing i did notice when I was right at the top a few weeks back is that you can now see into a few windows across the road...
The question is why was their restrospective application refused? I'm far too lazy to search for the application documents.
