What is the measure of "decency" of GPs? They have only two functions: 1) give you paracetamol 2) send you to hospital. From that point of view the only thing which is interesting is the length of their waiting list.

Village Practice (Isledon road) this morning offered me an appointment in two weeks time. I feel lucky.

I'm sure that something relating to doctors will come up if you use the search function. Edit: Here is the link <http://www.stroudgreen.org/discussion/1687/good-doctors/>; Depending on where in SG you live (I'm in the West Village), you may be able to register with the marvellous Dr Moneeb at Hornsey Rise Health Centre. There's a drop in clinic every morning and you can get same day appointments if you call in the morning. I rarely have cause to visit the doctor but have always had a positive experience there. He didn't even laugh when I told him how I sprained my ankle.

I always had a good experience at Dr Ramnani's surgery (157); friendly receptionists, flexible hours, can always get an appt, but their new doctor (whose name I've completely forgotten, unhelpfully enough) isn't great - I feel he doesn't really listen or ask enough questions - fine for eg repeat prescriptions but disappointingly offhand with more in-depth stuff. So I'm considering a move if anyone has a (recent) recommendation.

My main criterion for a doctor is that he should be good with my repeat Ventolin prescription, and not try too hard to push me on to other asthma medicines which I've already tried, while denying they have the side effects I have experienced. By this metric, Dr Ramnani has been very satisfactory.

The Crouch Hall Road surgery has always been great for us. We're only just in the catchment area but to date, it's been excellent.

I managed to get into Heron Practice on Green Lanes. Very happy with them so far
