Hi there, I was wondering if anyone on here could help me out -is there a kebab shop in SG or Finsbury Park area that does good halep (or haleb) kebabs? Haven't had one for ages and they're my favourite.
A Halep kebab is grilled lamb with a rich tomato-based sauce, usually has a layer of sliced up pitta bread at the bottom. Really tasty.
I was told by a guy who ran a Turkish restaurant that the name comes from "Aleppo" but he might have been winding me up.
They do a chicken dish with sliced pitta on top in Petek and in Gallipoli on Upper Street. Not sure that the Petek on is tomato-y, and the Gallipoli one is quite yoghurt-y.
