BT cold callers, How to get rid of them. Help!!

They are an absolute Bloody pain to put it mildly. I have had 3 calls in the last 15 minutes to discuss their latest bargain!!. What do I do to get rid of them. I have a land line from them (unfortunately) but I never expected them to badger me like they do.
Any witty remarks?

Have you told them not to call you? under their own procedures they should stop if you ask.

They've been very active this past two weeks and quite persistent. I did tell them not to call back and the one today said that didn't seem to be on their file.

Definitely worth doing the preference service thing.

In any case if you tell an organisation you don't want marketing calls from them then the data protection legislation says they have to stop. If they don't then the Information Commissioner has powers to force them to comply. The commissioner's website has pretty clear info on your rights although alas posting a link is currently beyond me - there's a thread on here somewhere explaining ...

We've been registered on the TPS for years and still get calls.
