Just realised how near this:

W. Plumb Family Butchers:

Grade II listed, ornate former Edwardian butcher's shop c1900 with art nouveau wall tiling, geometric tiled floor, scrolled meat rails and mahogany cashier's booth with etched and brilliant cut glass. Very well preserved.

Ah I'm really glad you mentioned this! I'm busy on Sat & Sun so didn't even look at the Open House listings, but this is so close I'll be able to get there if I go early. I've wanted to nose in there for ages!

I can't recommend W. Plumb's too highly, the tiling is superb, only wish it could open as a butchers again. Damn you Arther Tesco.

The man who owns it is keen on opening it as a tea and cake place, and in the meantime could be interested in hosting supperclub or WI cake events.

Was that you that came in just as we were leaving Mirandola? I'd been talking to him about opening it for tea and cakes and told him about Seasons. I'd also just spotted the plastic bat on the meat hook.

Plumbs butchers shop is brilliant, it's so close by and I'd never found it before. Would indeed be a marvellous space to hire for a special occasion party or club events - limited catering though.
