I am the creation of your imagination

It's taken me a while to actually stop and work out what's going on at Hornsey Rd Baths, but I was intrigued by the lovely big neon sign they put up a while back...

The other night I actually stopped cycling to have a look in there. To be honest it was partly because the darker evenings let me spot something like a cafe or bar at street level, and it looked nice.

Anyway, as well as the lovely new sign, there is a great looking youth project & venue called Platform on the site. It has a 100-seat theatre, a 150-seat performance space, media suites, a recording studio, dance studio and a cafe. Here's a video about it.

A pal of mine lives in that building, the flats are quite nice. Hers has a marvellous view across the fire station's back yard where the chaps wander about in various states of undress.

From what I know of it, it's run by teenagers for teenagers: it's all about creating performance and stage-related work opportunities for teenagers. I've seen a recent call for more performance opportunities for teenagers on FB. Looks like it's going well!

Yes I hope it does go well. Really pleased to see something new that's so positive and creative for young people around here. Surprising in the art cuts climate, but definitely needed. The cafe is open to the public, I'll go and check it out soon.

A friend of mine danced there at what I think may have been the launch. The bit she was in was good, but even better was the aerialist dancing in the big square on the estate behind the Baths building, because that really was bringing art to the community (and going down rather well, so far as I could tell).
