Exerpt from an email I received from Lynn Featherstone:

I wanted to let you know the good news about the extra funding local schools in your area will receive from this June. An increase in the Pupil Premium will mean Haringey’s schools will receive £3.5million more than last year – that’s £8.8.million in total for 2012/13.

Recently it has become clear that some of our schools face real challenges and I hope that this extra funding will make a difference by providing head teachers with the resources to improve all our schools.

It is right that the Pupil Premium is targeted at those schools and communities that need it the most and face the most challenging circumstances. Throughout the country Pupil Premium money is being put to good use by head teachers to provide children with additional tuition, better IT resources and help to work closer with parents.

All schools in Haringey will benefit.

Below is a list of the schools in your local area and the amount of Pupil Premium they will receive:

· Greig City Academy on Hornsey High Street will get £378,600
· Hornsey School for Girls on Inderwick Road will get £385,200
· Highgate Wood in Crouch End will get £270,000
· Stroud Green Primary School on Woodstock Road will get £107,400
· St Aidan’s Primary School on Albany Road will get £23,400
· Weston Park Primary School on Denton Road will get £18,000

To see how much has been allocated to other schools in Haringey click on the link below.

http://bit.ly/GFH6SN

Every year I visit schools across Hornsey and Wood Green and I know how valuable this extra help will be.

Kind regards,
Lynne Featherstone MP
Liberal Democrat MP for Hornsey and Wood Green

p .s. Despite years of Labour and Tory governments rhetoric on education Haringey’s schools still receive less education funding per pupil than our neighbouring boroughs. We are continuing our fight to get Fair Funding – sign our petition here: http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/fairfunding

;

 • "recently it has become clear that some of our schools face real challenges" . Yeh like when u took over the govt and csncelled all the improvement grants. Lynn is a joke and needs a bucket shoved on her fat head. What about the schools on da Islington side? Chang
 • It would be interesting to know if Islington schools have received this funding too; my understanding is that they have always received higher funding levels because Islington was classed as an Inner London borough, while Haringey was designated Outer London. If this is a step towards equalising the funding, it's a positive one (though Chang's point is well-made).
 •
Yes Islington schools have received this money. Pupli premium is base don the number of children on free school meals. Additionally this funding has been back dated.

 •
More from Lynn Featherstone:

I'm emailing to let you know the brilliant news about our 5 year campaign for fairer funding for our schools, and to end the injustice of Haringey's schools receiving so much less money per pupil than neighbouring boroughs. This week the Government has announced that they will correct the funding formula to ensure that Haringey schools receive inner London funding - bringing us into line with other boroughs like Hackney and Islington. As a result of our campaign, schools in Haringey will now receive more funding per pupil - a great campaign success story!

For decades Haringey's schools have had to pay Inner London salaries without Inner London funding - leaving local pupils short-changed. For 13 years the Labour Government did nothing about this injustice and when I launched our campaign back in 2007 I was a lone voice - here's my first blog post on the issue: http://bit.ly/fairfundinglaunch. But thanks to the huge support from the thousands of local Haringey residents who responded to our leaflets and emails and signed our petitions this campaign snowballed.

I visit schools and speak to pupils and teachers very regularly, so I know the huge difference this change will make for our children - particularly coming on top of recent announcements of extra funding for our schools through the Pupil Premium. I'd like to thank all the residents who backed the campaign and have helped deliver what I hope will become a massive boost to the resources our schools have to teach our children.

However the full details of the new funding formula have not been published yet, so I've written to the Education Secretary welcoming the promised changes but demanding the very best deal for Haringey. Rest assured the campaign will continue until our schools have got the fair funding they deserve.

Kind regards,

Lynne

Lynne Featherstone MP
Liberal Democrat MP for Hornsey and Wood Green

PS - Thousands of you have signed my petition since I started this campaign in 2007. This victory would not have happened without your support - and you have my sincerest thanks.

 • Two separate things here. treating haringey Schools the same as Islington, which it seems is about to happen. Good thing.

AND

The pupil premium which applies to all schools in England.
