Much conversation about this in Vaga this morning. I suggested it would make a nice stocking filler, which went down well. On impulse, out of curiosity, and nostalgia (Krapy will understand if I say I once lived in Tuscany...), I strolled to Ashman's, had a nice conversation with that gentleman, and bought a bottle myself. It's twice the size I was expecting, which makes the price very reasonable.
  • PS. Ignore Chang's mischief-making. There are plenty more.
  • @chekski - I take it you mean Vagabond? Most gratifying. Thank you for your kind comments - they were flying off the market table at Harringay Market yesterday. It will never make me rich but it might make me happy.
• And by the way, I hope to have some white truffle oil and a few other Christmas goodies available outside Budgens on Thursday - not my own, you understand, but the lovingly created artisanal products of neighbouring farmers in Italy. Abruzzo is a truffle area. Watch this space!
• I can vouch for the popularity of Krappy's stall on Sunday. I was overcome by an odd sense of vicarious pride.
• @Misscara, I just had a little chat with Ashman, we don't think the barrel idea would work in the shop, but some kind of bottle 'deposit and return' system might. I'll try to work something out.

I need to dramatically reduce my costs if Stroud Green Olive Oil is to have a future. At the moment I'm only just covering my costs. If I sell my entire stock it will pay for a trip to central Italy to recover the oil and the cost of the bottles and labels, but nothing else. Definitely not a profit.

But I believe in *real food* so I'll keep tinkering with the 'production costs' - I have a few ideas that might make it viable.

• At first I thought Krappy's oil was good, but a bit bland. Perhaps Tuscan oil was a bit stronger, I can't really remember. But now, two meals on, I am convinced. It is unique, and utterly authentic. Well done, Krappy, and good luck with your project.

If you like this kind of thing, @checkski, come over to Crotch End and pick up some white truffle oil from outside Budgens in the morning. It's not my own - I wouldn't know the recipe - but I got hold of it from a local in the village. It'll blow your head off! By the way, I've blogged.
• Krappy, I finally got my hands on some olive oil, picked up from Ash's fruit and veg, it's great stuff - has a nice fresh taste to it.

How are the stocks looking, would definitely like to get some more. Nice blog by the way.
