Any data retrieval specialists out there?

In an especially annoying Friday 13th kind of way, I've broken my USB data stick - pretty badly - and am wondering if anyone might be able to retrieve the data on it? I've got all the pieces...

 • My laptop guy might be able to help, he's managed to retrieve stuff from my laptop when it's comatose, so maybe.... Will PM you his details when I'm off the phone - am on hold to Virgin, grr!
 •
Can you tell if the CPU (little black micro chip) has broken away from the circuit board ?

What's the actual damage ?

 •
@Jak, the CPU is still attached to the circuit board, but the little metal strips which attach the USB to the top side of the circuit board have all broken (my netbook fell off the coffee table and landed on the plugged-in datastick, so the connector bent to about 90 degrees; I think they snapped when I bent it back). If my explanation isn't very clear, I can send you a photo if you want to whisper me your e-mail?

@harpistic, got your whisper - thx a lot.

 • It needs to be soldered back on carefully and it should work.
