<P>Ken was selected ages ago I supect to stop him standing as an independant at a time when most of the labour party were a bit of mess just post election.  He did quite well considering  everything including the negative London press.</P> <P> </P>

Ken was selected at a time when nobody thought Labour had a chance of winning the mayoralty and so nobody else wanted to stand. As Ali said, things were a mess post-election.<div><br></div><div>The choice London party members were given was Ken versus Oona King and think a lot on the right of the party voted for Ken because they didn't think Oona was up to the job.</div>
