Love food, hate food waste? FoodCycle Haringey need your help!

Hello,
We are writing to you all to tell you about our project on Stapleton Hall road in Haringey...
Our organisation, FoodCycle?
FoodCycle is a registered charity, founded in the UK in 2009
We have four main aims:
1. Reducing commercial food waste
2. Reducing ‘food poverty’- this can be described as the inability to obtain healthy food, for a number of reasons including lack of income, knowledge or time
3. Engaging volunteers through hands on training
4. Reducing social isolation by providing a place for people to come and socialise over some delicious food (A beacon in the community) -
What do FoodCycle do at the Station House Café?
We work with MIND in Haringey, who lend us their kitchen space.
On Thursdays we pick up surplus food that would usually be thrown away from Sainsbury’s in Haringey, Stroud Green Fruit and Veg, Planet Organic, Gales Bakery and Budgens
This food is within its ‘Use By’ date but past its ‘Best Before’ date – most of the food is perfectly fresh and good to eat, and as I'm sure you all know, vegetables are bad when they are black and mouldy!
On Thursday afternoon/evening a team of wonderful volunteers come to MIND to prepare the food. Even more lovely volunteers then serve these nutritious meals on Friday lunchtime.
At Station House we operate a 'pay what you feel' policy for meals to cover the cost of kitchen overheads and to pay for the small amount of extra ingredients that we buy each week to make our meals tasty! We want the café to be a sustainable operation whilst at the same time being an inclusive place for people who are less able to afford healthy meals.
What we want?
Right now we need support from the local community (as in customers). We would like to invite you to come and see the work we are doing for yourself and urge you to support us by not only coming, but spreading the word.
