  • Hi everyone, I already know a lot of you through knitting group, WI, the pub, stalking etc. and I have to say that over the years this site has been a great source of many things for me (friends, fellow knitters, drinking buddies, borrowing/lending/selling stuff, parking permits, emergency rescusitation classes, finding a flat and even the odd date (not naming names). It has certainly made living in the area a lot more enjoyable! Also thanks to everyone for your support and advice following my recent assault on the 29 (another thread).

So, was just wondering if any of you fancy going for a beer? I think this would be a nice opportunity for all of us to get to know each other a bit better, and maybe promote better undersatnding and tolerance between us all(again, mentioning no names).

Am happy to organise if anyone's up for it!

  • Dates? How come I didn't know about this Miss Dark Horse!

  • I'm in.

  • Haha Miss A, a lady never reveals her conquests.

I was thinking one of the local hostelries could host this for us and throw in a few bottles of vino and some sausage rolls, in the interests of community spirit :)

  • Conquests? I say! What an exciting life you do lead.

  • I'm interested - it would be cool to meet some of the "usual suspects"...

  • Sounds like an excellent idea. Any dates (no, not that kind!) in mind?

  • It's just an old saying, there definitely wasn't any conquering in this case :)

    How about next Friday night?

  • Oh rats, I'll be away! Never mind, I'm sure there'll be another time!

  • 20th works for me.  Payday.

  • Me too - but 20th is no good for me, alas. Doodle is good for finding people's availability if there's enough of us?

  • FWIW 20th works for me, I think.

  • Interested in principle, but away on the 20th.

  • 20th is no good.

  • Great idea Misscara.  20th doesn't work for me either, but I'll try and make whatever date you choose, especially as I haven't made it to the knitting group for absolutely ages.

  • Yes, Doodle is good...

  • What is it? Can someone sort it?

  • It's http://www.doodle.com/ - someone just needs to pick a bunch of possible dates and not mind receiving a deluge of emails. Post the link on here, and everyone will fill in their availability on those dates.

We used it for the would-be Xmas meetup...

  • I'm up for meeting up too. I'm pretty easy on dates.

  • Another yes from Roxy and Poxy.

  • Here we go, here's a Doodle - I put Wednesday - Sundays for the next three weeks. (Yes) means maybe/if need be - always helpful when trying to pick a date!

Best to use usernames on it so that we know who's who :)

  • Four people have put down their availability so far, with July 29th looking the best - let's have some more people signing up!

  • The 29th is a school night!

  • Yes, that's my problem too. We're also on Olympic opening hours on Sundays now.

  • Thanks, @Sutent! I agree with miss annie, Sunday evenings aren't great for meeting up, but we could shift it to a bit earlier so that it doesn't run remotely late? Unless another evening appears as a frontrunner?

  • I quite like going out on a Sunday afternoon/evening, we could do it earlyish and not get pissed.

  • 29th clashes with WOMAD festival, unless the rain clashes the festival itself....

  • @Arkady, @Mirandola, @Roy, @krappyrubsnif, Miss Annie etc - if you put your availability on the Doodle (link above) then we can decide on an evening for meeting up.

    And whatever happened to @Stella?!

  • What is this 'not get pissed' of which you speak? :-)

I too would have preferred to avoid a schoolnight if possible, but it looks like our collective availability isn't going to permit that.

Howdy, Stranger!
