I know (through friends) the owner of Private White VC, he's not worried about J Crew at all. Thinks they are a positive addition because of their brand ethos and high standards of craftsmanship and tailoring. He's son of Laura Ashley so knows a bit about brand building, interesting chap.
The one on the corner with Malborough Road? Whenever I've been in it's been an absolute rip-off.

I'm fascinated by Honrsey Road. I guess it's because I'm interested in abandoned buildings etc. but London lost High Streets have a very unique feel to them. I'm not sure I can see Hornsey Road having a substantial recovery anytime in the near future especially being sandwiched between the Elthorne, Andover and Sussex Way estates.
@North Nineteen, really? I find regular quick shopping purchases such as beer, wine, bread, milk, soup, curry paste and pork scratchings to be very reasonably priced.

Mirandola's blog is great.
Haha, I can't believe I spelt that wrong.

I'll have another look, I normally don't make it past the convenience shop near Grenville Road. I find the Eastern Europe sullenness endearing.
This is barely relevant, but I feel the need to share: Bob Stanley's brilliant history of pop has brought to my attention the existence of a hopeless local seventies punk band called Hornsey At War:
I remember the stable yard being open but can't remember when the flats were built in there. Thanks for the excellent stories, wonder why carnations fell out of fashion? I think they are jolly.
Thank you both. I reckon there's probably more to find on the Plough, but I can't really take a baby to an archive. I agree on carnations. Pretty things.
