Every radio station, every channel, has been swamped with Mandela hagiography all night. We are in for a Princess Di moment. It makes you sick to hear all the bad guys lining up with their 2 pennorth of hypocritical drivel (over to you, Prime Minister).
But I confess I feel the same way. For me, he is a second Gandhi. Anyone agree? No-one has mentioned G so far.
Much better than Gandhi. Gandhi has been deified, but his reputation deserves much more scrutiny than it gets in most quarters. See also 'Mother' Theresa.
I think we sometimes forget that the people we revere are human with all the accompanying flaws. If we delve a bit we often find some really quite unpleasant character traits in our heroes.
I think Cameron got it about right, but cant wait until the mass murderer Blair pops his clogs will be signing dancing and hoping he burns in hell.
As for Mr Mandela a great man who's legacy will never be forgotten.
