Ever-wonderful BT have told me it will take up to five, yes *five*, days to fix the fault on my phone line which has knocked out my landline, ADSL broadband and Sky Sports in Lorne Road.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with the 281 exchange?.

A Soviet-era phone company would probably have performed better. I think it's time to change provider to something quicker, more efficient and also most likely cheaper. BT can stuff it's pathetic customer service up its own orifices.

Any recommendations?
No problem ever with BT. Virgin are universally slated here and in the real world. I stick with BT because I do like a landline, aged rellies don't like calling mobiles, and the whole package is cheaper than anything I found elsewhere. BT Sport is free from them too if you like that sort of thing.
The (first) big storm in October knocked out my BT landline and broadband and it took about 10 days to fix. This was a bit long to wait but it was an extraordinary circumstance given the weather and in three years this was the only significant problem I've had.

Before that I had Virgin and I can't say enough how terrible the service was, in fact they'll probably write it on my tombstone.
I've been with Virgin a year now, phone, tv and broadband. I have had no problems at all but not looking forward to the discount period ending in the summer when the prices go up.
Sadly BT and Virgin are still the only real options. Everyone else still uses BT infrastructure from the Exchange to your home so any problem you have would likely still occur with another provider.
