Open Mic Nights at the Hideaway

Calling all local musicians! SG singer/songwriter/guitar teacher Colin Devaney is hosting the open mic nights at the Hideaway, just a few stops away on the 210, over in Archway on Sunday evenings. All are welcome: the list opens at 7pm, with sets from 8pm onwards, and jam sessions at the end of the evening. <br><br>The drinks are cheap, the pizzas are good, the music is even better, and I'm doing the photography and filming, so the more the merrier! That said, wish you guys lots of fun. One day I'll be brave enough to do stand-up comedy at an open mic night. Obviously not one where they ask for musicians!<br>

We get stand-up comedians too, they're very welcome! We had an older woman last week, she was very funny, very dry humour, and lots of jokes at her own expense; there was a younger comedian earlier last month who was very rusty but still appreciated. <br><br>It's also a very nice evening out for audiences too - everyone's welcome!<br>

I've got terrible stage fright, but dreamed about doing a stand-up show for many years.<br>

Do give it a go - I can imagine you'd be great at it! And I'm always near the front so you'll have a friendly face <br>

I'll give it a few more thoughts. Normally I combat stage fright with plenty of whiskey shots--works for singing, not so for stand-up, unless you want to make a total tit of yourself. :-)<br>

Oh good I think comedians get a 10 minute slot but you don't have to take all that time if you don't want to. And it would be great to have some fellow forummers along to support you (Go Stella!)

It would be terrible! Making a tit of myself in front of other forum members, and being laughed at for decades for my cock-ups. A nightmare coming true. :-)<br><br>I think I'd rather go up to Manchester and try my luck as comedian. haha.<br>

Well, it's also open to anyone else who's a musician, or who fancies ending the week with an evening of live music in, ahem, Greater Stroud Green. <br>
