Are cats socialist?

Things often turn a little surreal at Castle Beetroot. And the question asked today was are cats socialist or tory. We both think tory but Beetroot was tight lipped on the subject. I would hate to think we have a cat that subscribes to the Socialist Worker.

Without wanting to give away the punchline, I suggest you track down the episode of John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme in which WWII boffins try to enlist cats in the fight against the Nazis. I think it hits the nail on the head.

I'm pretty sure cats don't have any political affiliations. They'd only ever vote for themselves, but they're too lazy/bored/unconcerned to actually run for anything.

Sadly the last 40 or so cats I have had to 'deal with ' professionally had a Nick Clegg badge on their collar. It didn't make administering the farewell bliss pack any easier but I did think about Cyril Smith (see Wikipedia ) as I took the gloves off. Chang

#Fat cats are not socialist.  My childhood cat was socialist.  She was very caring.  Not like some of the cats nowadays who only care for themselves.

Sorry for the font.  It seemed to just happen.  I really miss my cat now, she was the best. Never met a cat like her.

My cat definitely isn't a socialist. She certainly doesn't believe in redistribution of the wealth (ie food, laps, cushions, blankets, etc). She's not a capitalist either - she has no interest in selling these things for profit.<div><br></div><div>I think she's an absolute monarchist. She's queen, the highest authority on the planet, everything she surveys belongs to her and we're all here to fulfil her every whim.</div>

The cat that I said was socialist was the cleanest cat I've ever had the privilege to see. She was noted for this among friends and family.  She even used to follow me down the road to the polling booth.
