Foraging

edited April 2014 in Local discussion
Not sure if anyone is into foraging on here.   <div><br></div><div>At the moment there are some lovely ramsons (wild garlic) on the parkland walk.   They have leaves a bit like a flaccid tulip and smell very strongly.   There are some just past the skate ramp.   The ones on the bank by the school probably have less dog urine on them.   They seem less strong, maybe because they are in the shade.    Been enjoying the odd dandelion leaf in salads too.   </div>

  • Be careful though, there have been cases of mistaken identity. For example, you don't want to mistake foxglove for something like comfrey - the former does not make for a nice cup of herbal tea!
  • One of our summer WI meetings this year is a foraging walk, there's plenty of interest in it locally.
