Try the cat shelter up at archway, might not have a kitten but some nice cats that need a new home, plus the added bonus of being litter trained had their bits whipped out and all inoculations.
I bought my pal a kitten from there, they were very good. Requested donation was about £80 four years ago, think it's the same now. As Detritus says, all the basic cat medical stuff is done, essential that they are neutered/spayed.
They nearly always have kittens there http://www.cats.org.uk/FindACatPilot.aspx?pc=n4+3ld
Matt, dogs and hamsters are better but I am always on hand in Red Ritas or whatever it is called as a qualified - and fun- cat immobilisation specialist. Or visit us in Hornsey Rd during the week for a full snip.
