200 quid for a frame thats a bit bigger than a4. this after 3.80 for bread at exeter st bakery. wife came home spending no money.
Finsbury Park is getting too expensive.
John Jones mostly do museum and gallery framing, they are expensive for everyday stuff. Try NewFrames in Soho (Beak St), unless it's a really valuable artwork.
N4 is getting to be very pricey, but there are a lot of rich new homeowners here. Businesses know they can fleece them, they'll pay any amount of money to buy stuff in a shop that makes them think they live in Brooklyn.
Indeed, John Jones are gallery-standard and their prices should be judged as such - I was once quoted a grand for something that I hoped would be less than a £100.<div><br></div><div>As for Exeter St - their pizza is pretty reasonably priced given size and exceptional quality, can't speak for the bread.</div>
John Jones are one of the most renowned framers in London - and hence the world. It's like walking into a Saville Row tailor and being surprised the suits are more hugely expensive than M&S.<br>
Agreed, John Jones are not the right people for everyday framing (I was also given a huge quote many years ago and realised they were out of my league). I use Vintiners in Crouch End and they have always been great.
@NorthNineteen Now I know that I'm tempted to go in with something tiny, such as a paperclip or a postage stamp and ask them to frame it just so I can say I've got a John Jones frame :-)
Am looking to get an original cartoon framed, so happy to pay for more than a £5 clip frame off the internet but don't need a full John Jones masterpiece.<div><br></div><div>Any changes to the recommendations in the last six months or is Vintiners still my best bet?</div>
The place next to Vintiners (the glazier) does framing, too.<div><br><div>There is a lovely lady who does framing in the Studios on Marlborough Road, but can't remember what the business is called...</div></div>
Try Wood Green Picture Framing on Mayes Rd. They have an amazing range of frames and not in a hurry with you which makes a change Their prices are another world from John Jones and in my opinion just as good.
I found the Roman Britain image myself and had him print it for me. The Italy one I got elsewhere, but also from etsy from memory. eframe.co.uk provided the matching frames.

They're really good. They send the frame and perfectly-decent clear plastic and it's all very easy to fit together.
Among other things, I used them to frame this thing of beauty:
Is there something you know that we don't ?
I see Mayhem is up there preaching today.
-it's an incredibly good quality scan and print - you wouldn't know it wasn't an original.

The battery-operated picture-light (which I love like a child), cost more than all the pictures and frames combined: http://www.lighting-direct.co.uk/ultimate-led-battery-operated-picture-light-large-antique-brass.html
...but worth it, no?
I also got eframe to provide frames for some original 2000AD comic art and other geekery, as well as various prints for the missus. They're brilliant.
If you have a picture that might be worth sometjing then yes. If you have a van gogh poster you want framing then no
