Fracking

according to greenpeace's site -  <a href="http://www.wrongmove.org/">http://www.wrongmove.org/</a> the Stroud Green area could be fracked. <div><br></div><div>here's a petition against fracking in the UK - https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/page/s/long-text-left-form-right </div><div><br></div><div>companies who frack are allowed to leave their waste behind even under our properties with no law in place to make sure they clean up and dangerous toxins. </div>

  • @djmattyoung, there's a problem with that link - the http bit seems to have ended up at the end.<div><br></div><div>Bizarre, though. Fracking anywhere in London would be insane, given that there are already subsidence issues because of the claybeds.</div>
  • link should be working now. <div><br></div><div>Yeah I don't understand how they can consider fracking in London but a friend of mine notified me to this and I found that website which seems to indicate it could happen. </div>
  • That would be bonkers. They could never get away with it in London. There would be so much opposition! 
  • There's opposition everywhere, which they're happy to ignore. More of a problem is that in London the subterranean reaches are already so crowded, largely with stuff people can't even accurately locate (cf the excuse for those ongoing water leaks), also with things like the Tube. 
  • If you zoom out on the map you'll see almost the whole country could potentially be fracked - Stroud Green will not be fracked, it is so difficult to frack in dense urban areas.
