There's opposition everywhere, which they're happy to ignore. More of a problem is that in London the subterranean reaches are already so crowded, largely with stuff people can't even accurately locate (cf the excuse for those ongoing water leaks), also with things like the Tube.
If you zoom out on the map you'll see almost the whole country could potentially be fracked - Stroud Green will not be fracked, it is so difficult to frack in dense urban areas.
