meeting on Monday 21 March it’s all about the ‘History of London Shopping’ with
Blue Badge guide and Stroud Green local Caroline Piper! </span>

EN-US" lang="EN-US">Marks and Spencer, John Lewis, Fortnum and Mason, Burberry and Harrods </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt">are </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;
mso-ansi-language:EN-US" lang="EN-US">brand names </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt">we
take for </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-ansi-language:
EN-US" lang="EN-US">for granted now but how did it all start and why were these brands so
successful? Explore the history of London's shops from its markets like
Billingsgate and Smithfield to the King's Road and Knightsbridge today, and
discover why Britain is a “nation of shopkeepers”.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Plus </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN-US" lang="EN-US">we’re ‘Baking Some Noise’ in
support of Target Ovarian Cancer awareness month and we’ll have homemade
cake a plenty for a suggested donation of £1 a slice in aid of this charity. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;mso-ansi-language:
EN-US" lang="EN-US">Do bring along unwanted bras as we’re collecting for the charity </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Against Breast Cancer. Bras are given a new lease of
life through their textile recovery project plus they receive funding for
research for every tonne of bras collected.</span></p>
