Fresh yeast?

Hi, does anyone know where to get some fresh yeast (brewers yeast in cubes) in the area (delis, bakeries , polish sklep) ?

We don't seem to find it anywhere in the area and have to go Oxford circus at the moment to get it from a swedish bakery, but it would be much better to buy it locally.

Maybe any of you fiddles around with baking and knows a secret place?

Urban Nature/natural (organic shop opposite Sainsbury's) sometimes has it.

Dunn's bakery in Crouch End will happily sell it to you if you ask them. We got it there last fall when baking Swedish kanelbullar.

Not in cubes, though, in a big formless blob stuffed into a plastic bag. But it's easy enough to weigh it or guesstimate.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the cubes for sale at Al Bahia on Blackstock Road. One of the first few shops on your left if you're coming from Seven Sisters Road.

Have a look at Vittorio's - he may have it, too. I think I have also seen it at Holloway's Morrison's, where refrigerated pastry rolls etc are.

I went to Vittorio's a few months ago and a lady told me they don't have it but they can happily get it for us from their supplier. I sent my husband yesterday to order it but he was told by another lady not possible.

He is now in charge of checking out all of the places above you recommended, thanks everyone
