Matt, did you ever go into the Nicholas Nickleby? I keep promising myself to go in for at least a jar but it scares the shit out of me from the outside _(and I go into the 12 pins on match day...)_. I've started trying to convince Andy to hold my hand and go in...
Yes, twice, before the no-smoking ban - which seems a shame. It's bloody cold in there, but they did a reasonable enough range of drinks and snacks, a jukebox, quiz, bar billiards, dart board and a pool table (I think?). I've been in much worse, including the 12 pins! Not sure what it's like on a busy night.
I have a nicer local now in The Noble.
The NN is fine.
If you ever happen to be using the launderette it's quite nice to go and have a sit in and read the paper.
It's run down obviously and I wouldn't recommend the wine (they blew dust off the bottle when I ordered one and it was already open), but it's fine for a pint.
Probably not a destination pub.
You won’t believe it but when it opened it was featured in the Evening Standard as a trendy wine in the up and coming Ferme Park Rd area. That must have been about 18 years ago or so. The rooms on the left as you look at the pub used to be the old Printers who gave the space to the Landlord when he died hence the old shop front is sill there! It also used to be a great lock in place (like the Faltering was in the early days) before the extra opening hours !
It has really possible potential if it got a bit cleaned up etc as it has a massive catchment area around it with little competition unless you get to SGR.
Is this true?
_"Sunday lunches are a specialty with excellent value meals produced from the finest produce, generally coming from Henry Brewer's own organic farm in Sussex."_
Has whoever put that link up kept up with the discussion?
I only say that as I fear the people coming here to see our intelligent discourse on the future of the post office will wonder why on earth Lynn the has pointed her website readers to a conversation about biscuits and pubs?
On the latter point: Friday, so its off to the Noble with me.
Was in FPR PO today, a real pleasure. Stopped by at Londis for some Shopping and had a quick peek in the NN pub.
I miss Ferme Park Road - though not for the parking.
Just wrote an email to the "consultation". Fat load of good it will likely do!
Victoria Wood was out in protest at the Highgate Village post Office closing protest this morning (at least that's what the interview on Radio 5 claimed) ... I wonder if James McAvoy would be interested in protesting outside Ferme Park?

Folks, it's just a shop - let it go.
