Log Cabin

We are planning to install a log cabin at the back of our garden to make a garden office.
A guy in a store told us we would not need insulation if we go for thick log, like 6.5 cm.
It seems weird for us not to have insulation. What do you think, thick wood would be fine and do the job?
Anyone around here has a log cabin and would be able to help us with this?
