anyone know what's happening at the 'discount store' near pappagone? hoping it's something more interesting than another kebab shop or a terrible mother and baby clothing store (which can't last much longer either).
I walked past at the weekend, the shutters were up and the door was open. There was a guy in the doorway smoking a cigarette. I asked him what it was going to be. He didn't understand a word of English. Looking in through the door I could see that there's a partition wall across what was once the shop floor. There is a serving hatch type hole on the right-hand side.
@ Naomi re: Cherry Bean. It really is terrible isn't it? I did however fee a bit sorry for them when they opened and bought two bibs at £1 a pop. Don't think it was enough to keep them afloat though.
There are so many places on SG that never seem to have any customers. I've been trying to figure out how they manage to stay in business. There's no way that a restaurant can get by on 2 tables a night. Must be something going on in the back...
Oh, and I should probably introduce myself as this is my first post. Hi. I'm Reen. I've lived on Woodstock Road for the past 5 years.
to katiejane re cherry bean: really awful and so odd. where are they getting those clothes from?! i do feel sorry for them but what a missed opportunity! there is a market here for mother and baby stuff just...not that!
home...it's been there for at least a couple of years so it must be doing ok. it's lovely but it's the kind of place i go into a lot but never actually buy anything. we are rooting for it though.
I think restaurants like Symposium who seem to have no more than two customers at any time make their money from takeaways. My real wonder is the wierd general store between Woodys News and the front FP station entrance. It's got a few bags of rice at most, in a prime position. It's gotta be a NY mafia style evil axis head quarters, surely?

I'm guessing it's a greasy spoon or a kebaberie.
