Toast to the Mayor, Stapleton Tavern, 7pm Friday
Friday is the 251st anniversary of the "Stroud Green Jewel", made for the Stapleton Tavern and awarded to the 'Mayor' on 26th July, 1773. I will be there at 7pm with a small group of history and beer lovers to toast Mayor Thomas Legg (dec'd) on his anniversary, I invite all Stroud Greeners to join us. As last year, tricorn hat and candles perhaps, but no stand up this time (unless someone else is up for it). But maybe a chorus of The Song? Do come along! Videos of previous events are online on Facebook and YouTube. JUSTICE, TRUTH AND FRIENDSHIP - that's the historic toast, long may they live here in Stroud Green.
