CHRISTMAS COMING at Stroud Green Market:
- New drinks stall (beer, wine & cider by glass or bottle)
- orders taken for turkey, goose, chicken & duck
- mince pies, panettone, christmas puddings, Xmas cake etc
- beautiful variety of fresh winter produce
- hot food and coffee to keep us warm
Dear everybody, this is a market day to be cherished: the 1st of Advent! The day we can truly and without shame begin to be excited about times ahead - not only the cold and damp English winter without snow but times when excess equals moderation and skipping down the middle of the stroud green road is less likely to be considered a sign of madness (do be careful, though).
On Sundays in this season you might join other bright-eyed pilgrims on your way to the market, giddy with excitement at the thought of 3 different mince pie stalls, nigel barrow's christmas puddings, Sara Nyborg's plum, rum & cinnamon jam, panettone, turkeys, sprouts , walnuts & at least twice as much cheese as was deemed sufficient just a fortnight ago.
Best of all this week is our new drinks stall, aptly named The Stroud Green Barrel. This will offer the very best wine, beer and cider by glass and by bottle, including a very nice range from our old friend Natalino of Brevevita Wines. Joe has taken a great amount of care in both selection and presentation, even managing to get hold of a beautiful oak barrel - which is to show that the genie may be in the bottle, the devil is still very much in the detail. (As for the proof...they say it's in the pudding, but you'll have to buy one to find out.)
