Favourite Take-away

edited April 2008 in Reviews
The discussion about Tiffin Tin made me wonder what other good delivery places there are covering SG that I don't know about.

What are everyone's favourites? Mine are:

Lupa (over Firezza) for pizza; and
Hana for sushi

but that's about it.

I've also had deliveries from Misos but they aren't exactly wonderful, only take cash and have the rudest delivery person I've ever met.

Other suggestions?

Au Lac will venture this far, but they're a bit hopeless with directions.

I've not tried Hana, any good? My favourite curry house The Taste of Nawab will deliver here

I wouldn't say I am sushi connoisseur but I quite like Hana. I used to eat there loads but when it got to the point that the waitress was stopping to say hello to me in the street I felt it was time to scale back (although after that I ended up sitting on the next table to her at petek - I somehow felt I'd been caught being unfaithful). The take away is a bit of struggle as their English isn't great (but then my Japanese isn't fantastic either).

@katiejane - does Au Lac have a website? struggled to find it on google...

Sushi? Hana? Where where? I have completely missed that one.

Symposium waitress always says hello to me in the street with that "you haven't been in in ages" look. Reason is last time I went it wasn't very good.

me too! completely missed it Hana. I like Lupa for pizza and I quite like the salads too. Dhonia for Indian because they can walk to our house!

Hana is on Seven Sisters Road opposite the (old) Red Rose comedy club.

Also on SS Road is Le Rif, a Morrocan cafe which does a mean tagine dinner for about £4.00.

I walked up Hornsey Road today and saw there's a new Japanese noodle bar called Harabai or somesuch. There's a £4.99 all you can eat vegetarian special advertised in the window. I may go have a look-see for lunch tomorrow. If it doesn't look good I'll probably end up in Hana or Le Rif.

Yeah, how do I get hold of a menu for Hana (don't say go there...) - is it online?

Just had our second Lupa pizza. For me, the best pizza you can get hold of around here, easily. Was on Firezza's after giving up on the local duopoly, but Lupa is it now.

    @ Colette - Hana

We had dinner there tonight. Excellent sushi. Very fresh. Sadly, we were the only people in the restaurant.

Has anyone tried Fasika? It's an Ethiopian place a few doors down from Hana. They have a few veggie dishes on the menu, which is not that common in African restaurants. I'm wondering if this place is any good.

I think there is also a Sushi restaurant in Crouch End - on Crouch End Hill. Perhaps called Wow? Doesn't do delivery though.

I keep on intending to go to Fasika but ending up in Hana. There's also a place called Apollo which describes itself as French Greek cuisine - which sounds interesting (but will probably just turn out to be Greek)

Hmm there is no food in the house again...

    ...any other delivery recommendations?

and/or does anyone know where to get a menu for Au Lac?

hmmm. might cycle up to Au Lac and get a menu. Maybe I should start scanning them all in, we can have a members only takeaway menu download section. I will of course include the infamous [Stroud Green Brazilian takeaway](http://www.stroudgreen.org/discussion/539/#Comment_3559)

@David - that is a very very good idea.

@david - I totally agree. I thought of that recently but couldn't be arsed. Go for it.
