what are they building near John Jones Frames?

Evening all,

I wondered if anyone knew what they are building near the frame shop at FP. Its that big orrible building just up from the bridge on the left.

I was looking at it a few months ago thinking what an eyesore it was and hoped it would be tarted up. Well it looks like something is happening.

Sorry if this has already been noted in another thread.

Also, Ive seen a new Sushi and Korean restaurant opposite 12 Pins near the station which is good news makes up for Flower Store closing..

The oriental place opens on Friday - looks quite nice. Did anyone go to the one that was there before?

It's a slightly doomed location. It has changed hands several times in the last few years, and has never lasted long as anything. I really hope this sushi place makes it, but I do worry that the position on that junction isn't ideal for an evening out.

The flower store was lovely, but over-priced. Having Tesco selling tulips for half the price three doors along can't have helped either.

The Flower Store is closing? nooooooo.
It's the only decent local place to buy a fancy bouquet.

ARGH sushi on our doorstep, hoorah! Hopefully it will be less bank-breaking than the one on Seven Sisters Road (which is delicious, but only for a special treat).

Thinking that over the next few years that Blackstock Rd and the area around the junction with SS will improve lots.

Why ?

Well hundreds of posh flats at Highbury to probably be supplemented by 484 more at Centre North and virtually every shop in Blackstock is a takeaways.

The takeaways are all there because of the old football ground, Emirates Stadium is trying to capture that business so what should a hard pressed takeaway do – turn it self into a restaurant or trendy café to serve all these new people.

It is halfway there on change of use and it would improve the area

Six storeys - pretty big for the area. There will be a couple of restaurants in it as well.

I wonder what kind of restaurants - am thinking Strada, Cafe Rouge...

More like a Starburger, Dixy Rikkety Chicken and a Cafe Costa if we are lucky...

Yes I know Strada and Cafe Rouge are chains - Ive been to more than one!

To be honest I was being a bit tongue in cheek - but actually wouldnt mind at all. Id love somewhere to get a decent cup of coffee (not Starbucks etc.) my fav are small independents like Flat White.

I dont see anything wrong with Strada the food is great (I always tip in cash). But I know SG is far too run down for any of that and have got Islington N1 and Highgate for that, I wish there was more nice cafes to go to besides the Front Room.

Interesting the bit about parking permits. Seems that residents won't be able to apply for them - the developer has to pay for them to be part of a car club for a year.
