Popped into this place a couple of times since moving in around the corner. Needs a lick of paint, but they keep a smashing pint of bitter, and the landlord is a Scouser ex-roadie with a tale or two to tell. Very welcoming. I’m surprised that more money hasn’t been invested in it though given its fairly salubrious location.

Any comments, stories or other info about this pub?

Their website is hilarious. It actually says "Hurry up we close at 11".

I called in out of curiosity a few weeks ago. The place is a dump, really dirty and run down with attractive sheets on the benches, I presume to cover the holes in the upholstery. And ridiculously overpriced too, almost on a par with Old Dairy prices.

It's my closest pub and though am not a massive 'pub-goer I do want to like it. But it is just too grim. It caters for its market though, and allows kiddies to run riot in the lounge.

I particularly like the nice decor above the urinals - a print out from Internet Explorer (with URL) of a photo of someone dive bombing into a jacuzzi.

I rather like the NN. I suppose I just like an old fashioned boozer. It is a place where you go because you can be sure you'll only meet someone you know if they too are secretly on the lash. (This can lead to some interesting consequences. It is the only place where I have been with a mate who has been located, confronted and then physically hauled home by the missis, some Christmases ago.)

Surely it's where ordinary folk from the SG Upper East Side who can't afford wine bar and restaurant prices in CE go for a few beers, nothing wrong with that. Always a good pint, I wouldn't say it was expensive.

I agree the surroundings somewhat reminiscent of the lower decks of the Dublin-Holyhead ferry after a particularly rough crossing, you wouldn't want to get too close to that carpet.

I am amazed they have a web site.

i'm going to have to check this place out, 'But it is just too grim' is almost the most promising review any boozer that I like will ever get..

It's a bit shabby but I wouldn't go as far as grim. And hey, they have a deal on all through December - 1989 prices to celebrate 20 years since they opened. £1.60 for a well-kept pint of Bass, anyone?
