Nope. Nothing works. I have been using html <img src=" "> to post pictures into my own websites for years so I am quite familiar with all that, but it doesn't work here. In fact any image html just turns into a big red cross.
I have tried following the instructions given here on SG Org, but all a complete failure.
Any other suggestions - can I upload a picture directly, anybody? Or what?
In the meantime, I'm going to upload the pictures to some rodinary web space, since I know that works.......first one coming up.
We don't host pictures. We can only link to pics elsewhere. This is a question of cost. Picture hosting is a short road to a big hosting bill and there are lots of places (flickr, photobucket, tumblr) that do it better than we ever could, and for free.
Below the 'enter your comments' box, you can choose Text, HTML or Markdown. Are you checking the html box?
Well picasweb will host your image so you're 90% of the way there. You just need to go to your image page on picasaweb, while logged in, and look to the right hand side of the screen. I think you should see a 'Link to this photo' link there. (you need to do it. I think it doesn't show this to anyone except the user that uploaded the image)
Click that, and then select a size (e.g. Medium 400px)
Tick 'Image only (no link)'
It gives you the URL in the 'Embed image' box. Copy this and...
use that URL on the discussion forums here on stroudgreen.org , in a 'img' HTML tag
@Harry, I tried that thing on the Picasaweb early on, but couldn't make it work - anyway, I'm hosting pictures on one of my own web sites now. So crisis over.
@Krapyrubsnif If you're using Picassa, view the image full size, click 'link to this photo' on the left, copy the 'embed image' code and paste it into here, making sure you format your comment on here as HTML...
