Guys how can we make this happen? Sainsburys abd tesco are awful, and prices very similar you would be surprised. This would really give a good boost to the area too. Any ideas welcome!
No premises big enough for a Waitrose to take over on SG Road, unless there's room as part of any redevelopments (how big are the retail units at John Johnes building?). Don't think we're gentrified enough to warrant a Waitrose.
Oh dear, Creeping gentrification more than a boost to the area I think - rather a decent baker than a chain outlet. I think Waitrose only go where M&S go.
Sorry but why do we need another supermarket on sgr?
It's not like we live in the middle of nowhere.
Plus the small matter of the one on Holloway Road.
We could do without the SGR Tesco? I rarely go in there but when I do there are always a number of people shopping there, seems quite popular despite the views of some of us!
I hate going to Tesco on SGR but I am also lazy.
I would love to see a bookshop/bookswap place as in Holburn.
We don't need another supermarket, fast food shop or betting shop on SGR.
They don't sell anything you can't already buy in SG. Argos is better.
I walk or cycle to Crouch End and Holloway Road on at least one of my days off. I cannot think of anything I need to buy that I cannot buy there or in SGR. We are pretty well served with shopping opportunities.
I second Robert Dyas (predictive text just came out as Rubber Dyad.....). Or a decent hardware or electrical store.
Just been charged £6 for 4 small bolts with wing nuts by the robber baron hardware merchant next to X-It.
Damn it all, I'd kill (metaphorically) for a local waitrose. The calm, the lovely stuff, the helpful staff. It's like stepping into a hot bath on a cold day.
Altho Holloway Rd waitrose on NYE did make me worry that the world's champagne stocks would run dry.
Must agree with marianogodoy food in Tesco/Sainsbury dreadful. It would be great to have a Waitrose in SGR it would save me £13:00 plus tips I pay to and from Holloway Road every Saturday morning.
Tesco's Pork & Leek are quite nice. Apparently there's a butcher's on Green Lanes called Baldwin's which does amazing sausages, but haven't - yet! - tried it personally.
