@KateJones
Have you been in touch with Chris Arnold at Crouch End Creatives fb group? They are constantly moaning that there's no arts/meeting/office space for creatives. They will spread the word like wildfire.
<font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">"A creative" is one of the most grating expressions I have ever heard, and it also has a superfluous indefinite article so syntactically it does not make sense. </font><div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;"><br></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">I also think awesome is the most ghastly, overused word. The only time I find it acceptable is in the Old Testament. There was a brilliant article in the New York Times which commented on how: "</font><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><font face="georgia, times new roman, times, serif"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 22.0049991607666px;">“Awesome” went from being a risible word used only by stoners and surfers to an acceptably ubiquitous modifier, the Starbucks of adjectives."</span></font><br><font face="georgia, times new roman, times, serif"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 22.0049991607666px;">http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/18/opinion/sunday/ta-ta-london-hello-awesome.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0</span></font></span></div>
I use disinterested quite a lot! +1 vote against the overuse and devaluation of 'awesome'. I'm actively trying to bring back 'splendid' as a modest alternative.<div><br></div><div>On topic: Very impressed with how the new John Jones building has worked out, and look forward to seeing it become a hive of activity. I also look forward to the remainder of the redevelopment. I'd love it if Godfrey's got in on the action and opened a decent butcher there, one that was still open when I got home from work.<br><div><br></div><div><br></div></div>
C 'mon you'd miss the flies on the meat if they cleaned up those blood houses down from the world 's end. I think only one of them had a grade one rat infestation? WTF.
Godfreys are VERY welcome to stay, no matter what the ahem Arts Building lot say.
Chang
Chang - what do the arts building lot say? We are happy with godfreys being our neighbour, always have been. They are a london family business like us. Have I missed something?
No, I don't mean the units round the back. I mean the back of the John Jones building itself. <br><br>It is just bland, flat and to be honest a bit brutal. On the basis that the JJ building sits higher than others in a square surrounded by roads it is very visible and I think lets it down.<br><br>Especially as the front looks good and adds some character to the area.<br><br>Kate, will anything happen with it to improve the back?<br>
@PapaL - since it's a commercial building I don't think it needs to be anything other than what it is. Plus, once the student housing goes up, the backs of the buildings won't be that visible from most perspectives.<div><br></div><div>@Kate Jones: I think the building looks great - good luck. </div>
