He's one of those names I struggle to place - he's quite senior in the shadow cabinet isn't he? Former Transport Sec too.<br><br>I shared a lift with Boris on Tuesday at City Hall, not SG I know but he did compliment me on my hat.<br>
Saw him trudging up Crouch Hill a few months back after he'd just been hammered by Andrew Neil on Daily Politics. Guess he lives in the big 'high fence/curtains never open' corner house not far away.<div><br></div><div>Also, Minty in the Harringay Arms (which is apparently going to have some hipster beer brew thingymy in the snug)</div>
David Bowie in Vagabond. He was on his laptop. I passed by and did a double-take. Then thought, what the hell. I went in and said hello. He was a bit stand-offish at first. Then I apologised and he was warmer. I asked him why he was here? In Finsbury Park, rather than in existential terms. He said he was checking out old haunts like the old rainbow and he wandered. He's thinking of buying a place round here because it's interesting and he's fed up of New York. I didn't linger but he was polite and said 'happy christmas'.
Sorry guys, you probably guessed it was a joke. I never see anyone famous and I thought we could do with a bit of glamour on this thread. Even New Yorkers rarely see him. Perhaps he might at one stage pop into the World's End and sing a duet with Ray Davis. Something about Christmas and London.
I never see anyone famous either, or have any clue who most of the ' famous ' people in the thread are.
Saw Santa in a Tescos but think he may have been another imposter , wearing the red suit instead of green!
I actually really and genuinely did see David Bowie in Granita in Islington once. He came in with about three minders and the whole place fell silent. Some people were impressed, in a cool kind of way. Me, I couldn't give a fuck.
Many years ago Detritus was helping set up backstage at a gig and David Bowie walked in. Detritus didn't recognise him and thought he was some odd job who'd just wandered in and told him to do one. Although not as politely as that.
I met Cary Elwes, Dread Pirate Roberts himself, a couple of weeks ago. He was utterly charming. Also Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.
According to Top Gear on Sunday - which she was on - Gillian Anderson grew up in Crouch End / Harringay. Could she have been in Stroud Green?<div><br></div><div>Edit: Had I have used Google first I could have found the answer.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gillian_Andersonhttp://">Lived in Albany Road according to Wikipedia</a></div>
Yes, Gillian Anderson is from Crouch End. I remember an article around the time X-files (late 90s) was on and her going on about her first years there and that it was rough (I think). Different place back in the 60s/ early 70s.
