@HolbornFox The Bread by Bike stall at Stroud Green Market usually has cardamom buns (as well as the more ubiquitous cinnamon ones), and I'm pretty sure the Swedish woman selling rye bread sometimes sells them too.
Looking forward to trying Big Jo.
That's a couple of minutes saved on my commute. It was quite the wind tunnel this morning and I had to give up on my umbrella, but then so is Goodwin Street I suppose. I wonder how long it'll take for the businesses to open. Not the ideal time for i…
Emba Soira, the Eritrean restaurant on Crouch Hill, does takeaway. We just had their vegan platter which fed two generously, with enough left over for a lighter lunch. Plenty of meat options too for those inclined. We tried Coqfighter (next to Brave…
@krappyrubsnif I ordered some meat from them late last night, for pickup this weekend, as it let me log in despite the website saying it was shut. I got an order confirmation this morning so it definitely worked. They didn’t have much left in stock,…
Hi all, here are a few local FB and WhatsApp groups you can join if you’re either in need of help if self isolating, or looking to volunteer:

"Julie Bindel will chair". Yes, I'm sure a discussion chaired by a noted transphobe will provide a balanced view of the issue.
"Find out more about the rise of transgender children, and how to support them and other children at school" is what the…
Went there with a group of friends last week Friday. Lovely food (I had the 'cheesy chips and gravy', which was very good, but my friend's poussin looked bloody amazing) and friendly service.
Kimchi is rarely vegetarian, @rikki, it usually has some form of seafood in it, fish sauce or salted shrimp. There are vegetarian/vegan recipes out there but they'd be the exception rather than the norm. An easy mistake to make though.
Thanks for the info, @Arkady. Combined with the higher number of Thameslink trains going to St Pancras and onwards from May this year, my commute might well become a lot less unpleasant...
The second mockup image in that article shows the rail symbol as well as the TfL one above what will be the new tube entrance. Does anyone know whether that means the train platforms will also be accessible from that side?
@grenners Can you wheel the buggy straight into an UberXL though? We don't have car seats (as no car) so that's a big plus for me. Plus the armrest in the middle of newer cabs is designed to be a bumper seat for older children. Black cab drivers are…
This is a very good article about the TfL Uber decision:
https://www.londonreconnections.com/2017/understanding-uber-not-app/
Worth a read if you want to understand the situation properly. Certainly doesn't make Uber look good.
Personally I've so f…
@grenners Personally I'd be very sad to see the 'shop that sells everything' and the one with the post office counter go. The main guy at the post office is always super friendly, and by post office standards the queues are short.
There was a big festival in the park last weekend wasn't there? It was probably to help with crowd control like they do after Arsenal matches.
Couldn't make yesterday's vigil due to little ones' bedtimes but would like to contribute or do something…
We had a lovely brunch there on Saturday. Some teething problems (slowish service, cash only, music a bit loud) but the food made up for it. At some point about ten people were queueing for tables, I don't think they expected to be quite that busy …
I know it's unlikely but I hope you get your bike back. Do people still try to sell stolen bikes in Brick Lane? A friend of mine managed to get his back once, but that was years ago.
Stroud Green for the past three and half years, and the decade before that in Archway and Crouch End. Definitely staying put (unless Brexit gets so extreme I get kicked out I suppose).
