Meeting at St Melitus tomorrow (Friday 29th) at 2.30pm to discuss ASB and drug use in the Tollington & Wray Crescent area. https://twitter.com/MPSIslington/status/1706225216664240396
Does anyone have any updates on this? I'm not on Twitter/X so may have missed something. When I passed by today there were people working on getting it ready to open.
Agreed, the constant stream of drug users in and out of the woods is far more concerning. Most of the dog owners respect the rules about not allowing dogs into the pitch or playground.
Hi, it might be worth contacting Stroud Green School to see if they can put this child in touch with anyone. The school runs a weekly board games club and there was talk of also starting a chess club. https://www.stroudgreenprimary.com/Contact-Us/
I think it's very worrying that the NHS or Islington Council logos don't appear anywhere on the consulation site. Looks like this is being completely pushed and overseen by private property developers. Will the surgery still be run by the NHS once t…
Completely agree that it's a beautiful bridge and deserves to be protected. I think Haringey Council would have to be pushed to issue a preservation notice, can't imagine it's something they would bother to do without local pressure.
Apparently closing the park gates at night is a longrunning and complicated saga. I've lost track of where it got to but the last I remember is that the Council were refusing to close the gates because it took two members of staff to do it and they …
Tollington police have been taking action against dealers and dealing in Wray Crescent lately as it's been an escalating problem there over the last few months. I wonder if that action has shifted the problem elsewhere in Stroud Green?
Agree that …
Thanks Bethany, meeting sounds interesting and I'll do my best to come along. I'm one of many Stroud Green School parents who is very concerned with the traffic situation around the school, there have been lots of near misses and something needs to …
I like the new mural too and my 4 year old loves it. It wasn't my choice when they ran the vote on it a while ago but it actually looks pretty good.
Wells Terrace entrance looked almost ready to open when I passed by this morning but I'll believe …
Definitely a gamble. I made a small donation so if it doesn't reopen I won't feel too aggrieved. Feel like it's worth being optimistic and trying to help them get through this but completely understandable if that feels like too big a risk to take.
Agree that posting pictures of queues, empty shelves and overloaded trollies is unhelpful and just generates panic. Would be more useful to tell people where things are available!
On Crouch Hill the shop (Costcutter?) between Tony's butchers and Ri…
BPAS have said they don't encourage counter protests (tempting though it might be), they're asking people to write to their MPs to call for buffer zones.
You could also become a Friend of BPAS or get involved with Sister Supporter https://www.sist…
I agree with pushing for a public meeting to focus on the area around the station, feels like things have gone downhill a lot in the last year.
Afraid I'm not sure how to get this started, is going via the MPs the best first step? Chief Supt Raj K…
I’ve walked under that bridge at least twice a week for around 10 years (to get to N4 Library rather than the station) and never saw people camping out there until the Wells Terrace entrance closed. Fully accept that there may have been homeless peo…
I'm also pretty sure that's why the homeless problem is concentrated near the park. The Council and others have blamed the situation on kind hearted but misguided people giving money to beggers but I see very little evidence of begging under the bri…
This piece in the Islington Tribune http://islingtontribune.com/article/drug-dealing-too-often-goes-unchallenged-in-finsbury-park specifically mentions Moray Rd as one of the area's drug dealing hotspots. Possibly something to do with the recent st…
Can I use the Seven Sisters road entrance in the morning? Thought it was closed during rush hour?
If it's open in the mornings I'll definitely start going that way.
Is the yellow car wash and fruit stall area due to be redeveloped? Surely there must be plans for that section of the road?
Counting down the days until the new entrance opens and I don't have to walk under that depressing bridge every day.
The Friends of Finsbury Park have a survey on their website at the moment asking for feedback on safety in the park https://www.thefriendsoffinsburypark.org.uk/blog/
I agree with @trainspotter, the park is starting to look really neglected. I had t…
Islington police have tweeted that 3 people from the SGR bridge area have been helped into supported accommodation. Not sure what's happened to the others who were sleeping there.
I know a family with children at St Aidans who did not attend church to make sure they got a place, they weren't asked about religion and it wasn't taken into account when their child was allocated a place.
Having said that, there are some great n…
