Just had our flat completely redecorated by Anni and her colleagues Tracey and Heather (interrupted by lockdown, of course)/ They did a really fantastic job, very highly recommended.
I live facing the reservoir and would love this. However, it has to be said when it's left unmowed it's already a pretty good wildflower meadow without any additional seeding! It's always a shame when they mow it. It attracts birds and butterflies a…
I think the playground was fenced off because the Cape playscheme has legal responsibility for the kids using it but without a perimiter it was impossible to make that work in practice. So now it's open whenever the Cape is open and the supervisors …
This is a great thread about gardening (or not gardening) for insects. I think much more positively about my small patch of chaotic weeds now: https://twitter.com/paraicodonnell/status/1096764841300316160
Can't say I'm surprised. It was a pioneer once but now that kind of pizza is ubiquitous and done better. Plus they really lost out to Pappagone's when they got rid of the wood oven. Weird decision!
They've been on the Parkland Walk for a year or two. I think they originally came along the railway embankments from the Heath, via Gospel Oak. I saw dozens on the Heath yesterday, they're still a striking sight.
I've emailed our local councillors, who say my comments will be passed on to whoever's dealing with this. Not expecting much to change though.
One the problem seems to be that Crouch Hill is closed northbound right by the turning for Japan Crescent…
I had this reply from one of the SG Councillors on Saturday:
Hi Matt Thanks for this. I have been in touch with Islington council (who are carrying out the roadworks) this week, and I have raised the issue of the narrow section underneath the bridge…
Well done Ali. I've requested a callback from TfL, and emailed Haringey/Stroud Green Ward councillors (it seems to fall into the ward, just, according to the maps).
It's just an absolute uncoordinated disaster at the moment! Having been through that SGR pinchpoint twice at rush hour, I genuinely think it's dangerous and probably illegal. People with bikes and buggies really struggle to get through. Who to raise…
Thanks for the background info. I think it's a terrible shame - the old buildings, although impractical, had a lot of charm and were part of the character of that strange little three-tiered corner. The shop was a cobbler's for years, I remember whe…
I've let out a flat through Traynor's in Crouch End (http://www.traynor.co.uk/) for years, and can't recommend them highly enough. They're a small, local business so know the area very well; friendly and helpful; and always bring us very good tenant…
I read this post on Twitter and thought, 'what??' Then opened the link, and I'm now beaming at the huge list of replies. So much beauty in this seemingly-tatty corner of London.
I'd add one: if you stand outside the cafe that used to be Marie e M…
Blythwood Road is *really* confusing, as it's partly in Islington and partly in Haringey. How's that for foresight? Clearly Haringey should declare war on Islington and occupy the disputed territory.
I'm pretty certain that the FP and FP A zones …
You could've chosen to keep your stupid opinion to yourself. tosscat. Hope I don't bump into you at the tube. Don't think I'll bother contributing any more if that's the level of contribution I can expect!
Come come now people...! Not only am I not a woman (so what?!), but I never expect assistance on the tube. Sometimes, though, when planning a journey alone with kids (and believe me, I'd love to be able to afford to travel into central London by car…
@unaesthetic, should people buying buggies do a quick check with childless members of the public to see which size of buggy meets their approval for helping out at a tube station?
Maybe, having done their research, they know that A. those 'unwie…
