There's a group in San Francisco that grafts branches from fruit bearing trees onto existing urban trees - similar sort of group to guerilla gardeners. It doesn't work with all trees but I seem to remember my Grandad doing something similar with apples and possibly cherries. I wonder if anyone would be keen to do something of that ilk in SG?
I see they've put up signs along the John Jones side of Clifton Terrace about parking being suspended for several months early next year. Presumably that is for the redevelopment and so is a good sign of progress?
The temporary access road from Clifton Terrace is in place, and the shrubs and trees were being removed this morning. Demolition is under way. Twitterers might want to follow @JJArtsBuilding for updates.
Thanks Arkady! Yes work started this week!
Hoardings will be up end of Feb and we'll have lots of architect drawings on the website by then too. Been having meetings with Park Theatre and City North about their art projects and we are working together on a Creative Corner to bring public art to FP! It's all looking really good.
We have had long discussions about windows recently - avoiding cheap plastic ones and making sure we have Crittal style frames that will look great. It's SO nice to finally be making it all happen :-)
Thanks everyone for your support and I look forward to inviting to you to see the view from the sixth floor when we top out!
@Kate Jones I notice that what was once the lawn on the corner of Lennox Road and Stroud Green road has been converted into hard-standing. What's the plan there?
In Phase 1 (the JJ building which is going up on the Morris Place side), we will be locating construction offices and a temporary staff canteen on the corner (opposite Costa). Then when we move in to our new building (Jan 14) it will be developed into the student housing and 15 affordable units. We will have pics up end Feb showing how it will all look.
So obviously I have become completely obsessed with watching the demolition. However noisy and disruptive it is I guess the people in the southernmost 'Vista' flats are pleased to no longer have their balconies obstructed.

Here's a few from in the week:
There's considerably less of it than this remaining now - on Friday the concrete foundations were being broken up.

Also gone is a one-story building on the west-side of the site, whose foot-print will become the site entrance.

Lots of men in yellow jackets at the new soon-to-be entrance on Clifton Terrace. Looks like this is pushing full steam ahead.

I also noticed new hoarding on the vacant land on the other side of Clifton Terrace (opp. Nisa Local). Hopefully this is progressing soon.
