Would prefer a Starbucks, they are at least vegan-friendly unlike Costa or Cafe Nero.
Soya milk and milk powder free hot chocolate.
The empty shop on the corner of Woodstock Rd and SGR used to be part of the Budget Supermarket and Off-Licence next door - they downsized the shop dramatically a while back, I imagine probably to reduce costs in anticipation of the new Sainsbury's in the Vista development hurting their trade.
I would second a costa - the coffee's better than nero or starbucks any day. I am also really looking forward to the sainsburys - I do like the guys running that little budget supermarket but they don't really offer much there sadly.
The bus station cafe being La Brioche D'or? - the cafe with the sign that kind of says Costa, but something's odd's happened to the letter 'C'?
I seem to remember someone on here saying they buy their coffee from Costa?
Curious as to which one is 'the other funky little place' though :-)

Probably. The nice coffee place is the tiny one opposite the 210 bus stop. Nice home made cake as well as tasty and cheap (£1.30) mocha.
The Railway did have an 'Acquired' sign on it a few weeks ago, although it doesn't striker me as a Starbucks location.
hopefully the pub sign will be saved by somone
There's a school of thought which says that all pubs called The Railway are terrible: http://freakytrigger.co.uk/pumpkin/2004/11/pub-science/
If true, this would seem like a good move by Starbucks...
