All this village stuff has got me thinking. Back in the 60s in NYC Bob Dylan and other folk singers made a name for themselves in Greenwich Village. Here's a bit on the etymology of the area<div><br></div><div>http://untappedcities.com/2013/06/20/history-of-nyc-streets-the-crooked-past-of-greenwich-villages-two-minettas/</div><div><br></div><div>But village now brings up images of very organised commerce. Surely the great thing about this area is its free flowing non-brand vibe. And it worked for decades. Perhaps in today's world it's no longer a working model and it's time for these 'village' groupings. </div><div><br></div><div>The question I'll ask you all is if Stroud Green is renamed Stroud Green Village, does that make us 'village people'?</div>
<div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;">Well organised commerce is a bit boring. We need it to be a bit creaky. </span></font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;"><br></span></font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;">If we are village people we need to dance. Arkady is the construction man. I'm the cowboy. </span></font></div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;"><div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;"><br></span></font></div> face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;"><br></span></font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;">And if we become Stroud Green Village. As Village People we have to dance in the village square which is outside Vagabond every Sunday at 11 am.</span></font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: normal;"><br></span></font></div>
Or perhaps a little morris?<div><br></div><div>I leave it to the dancers to decide who gets to be the Hobby and wear the skirt.<br><div><br></div><div><br><div><img src="http://ilmington.org.uk/assets/morris_men.jpg" alt="Ilmington Morris Men"><br></div></div></div>
I'm happy to wear the skirt. Arkady on the right, Sutent on the left. Let's dozy doe your partner.<div><br></div><div>Good one Kate. Probably fits in with Stroud Green village life a bit more. After all we live in the countryside. (according to the local business group).</div><div>And dosy doe your partner. Here's a quick demonstration:</div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;"> style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;">Village life is fun.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;"><br></span></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
