It would be a shame if Neil moved onto something else. He is talented and has been adventurous in the various offerings he has curated around here although I wasn't convinced with the Sunderland chip shop concept
That is very good news. The Old Dairy has gone a bit downhill - has there been a change of ownership or chef? On the other hand, we went to dinner at Stapleton Tavern about two weeks ago and it was excellent.
The restaurant area in The Stapleton is nice and spacious, and especially nice on a sunny day, when the light comes though the skylight. Food has been good the few times I've eaten there, and the staff seem to genuinely care that you're happy with your food.
Piccolo Diavolo has made a nice transition to the former Porchetta premises and has geared-up with extra staff, who are all pleasant. The food is as good as ever, and there's more space, so I hope they start to get a bit more business soon.
To return to this thread - been to Tenmaru again and it's great. Had a chat with one of the honchos and it seems like they're doing alright for this time of year. Top props for friendly staff, I hope they do well!

They have a vegan section which is fantastic.

I think it's the same people, I popped in (or rather sat out) last night, it was pretty busy and has aperol spritz for a fiver.
