Will some BTP be armed with machine guns when travelling on tube trains, when the Olympics are taking place in London?

To defend against a potential terrorist threat?

I read something about surface to air missiles being placed in S London in the blackheath or greenwhich area perhaps? To defend against threats to security of terrorists potentially targeting the olympics. Some S London residents aren't too happy about surface to air missiles being placed closed to their homes...for obvious reasons...

calm down deary...

just having a discussion about the issues of the day ...that are on the minds of londoners...

While this forum remains a public space I welcome the identifiable police presence on it as I welcome the identifiable police presence in any other part of Stroud Green's 'public sphere' ...
If on this forum there were to be any evidence of criminal activity, anti-social behaviour, hate-speech, etcetera, i would expect the police here to act in the same way they would act as if encountering such behaviour in any other public place.

so you think it was right that the 21 year old welsh lad was arrested by old bill for what he wrote in his home... then charged by cps then sentenced to 56 days in prison by a magistrate or a judge...because he was drunk after wales rugby team won the grand slam and he just wrote his opinions on twitter...

what a waste of police time...cps time...the courts time...

its a witch hunt against working class british people who have a drink then say what they think at that point in time...

this bloke was in the third year of his biology university degree ...just weeks away from graduating....

now because of your left wing politicallly correct witch hunt his life is ruined...just because he was a drunk lad letting off steam...and wrote some comments like some 21 year old lads do...

your left wing witch hunt is causing so much damage to working class british people...

grow up gardener joe ....

No I think you're wrong, personally I would have had him publicly flogged.

Do not care if he was 1 day away from graduating he broke the law.

At best he was a wanker and at worst a pissed racist wishing a person dead who millions wanted to live.

It's nothing to do with class it's to do with a total twat being made to look like a total twat.

And besides there are people on this forum who constantly bang on about people who have been at university not being working class.

@chrisn4 - BTP will not be armed during the Olympics, however, there will be armed people all over the place, army, ARV's, undercovers, all sorts.

@gardener-Joe - It is not the job of any police to "police" internet forums, nor should it ever be. It is the job of forum moderators to vet content, and delete if appropriate, whether that be racism, hate speech or whatever. No one should ever be imprisoned for saying anything, I don't care what it is they say. that's the principle of freedom of speech. You are very wrong there.

@mirandola - cycling on the pavement was just an example, cycling in the public parks is another, parking rackets another.

"you have freedom of expression only within clearly defined limits"

correct under the law now....

doesnt make it morally right though

for example people were jailed for blasphemy within the last 100 years...that was not a good thing in the past...

the stephen lawrence mcpheson report resulted in that people could be charged with crimes if others "perceived" that certain offensive comments were made...no need for certainty under previous laws just a perception needed for a conviction...so if some witnesses said a comment was offensive that could be enough for a conviction perhaps...

people used to say this was a free country so you can say anything...they dont now..hence questioning of old bill...

Oh don't start quoting links from wikipedia, who's gonna read all that crap?

The point is, I do care. I care about people, I care about their rights to get on with their lives without fear of corrupt evil powers trying to dictate everything. You don't, you're a typical example of someone who is submissive to them, and totally blind to what they get up to.

You're the type who'll spy for them, support microchipping people, forced vaccinations, soak up all their propaganda, and support their illegal wars, and buy your car insurance from go compare!

Just do your knitting, and womens institute stuff, and leave the "resistance" to the men.

perhaps andy and chang are 100% what they describe...if you dont think thats what you are then that is what u r...

just a suggestion...

just saying...

ps not entirely sure what you mean chode...

@chrisn4 - I'm talking about "the 'yes' brigade", who say yes to anyone in authority whether they're right or wrong, they support all the things that are wrong in the world, just because they haven't got the balls to stand up for what's right.

Let's punish innocent people - ooh yes.

Let's invade a country, kill millions of innocent people, to steal the oil for the profits of the elites, believe our lies - ooh yes!

pay the bankers debts and tell your kids to, because we say so and you know it's right... ooh yes.

vaccinate your kids and poison them with mercury, then try to persuade everyone else too, because we want to profit from it, dumb people down, and depopulate the world - ooh yes!

agree with our profit making trivial laws, they're not illegal - ooh yes.

They make me fucking sick.

how do you know that miss annie is standing up for authority whether they are right or wrong...miss annie might be making a principled stand on certain issues for all you know...

just asking a question...

Well she obviously doesn't believe in the right to cycle in the park, or use your common sense when on the pavement, and she certainly doesn't think the queen and her husband should have attended court, despite being accused of conspiracy to murder by Mo Al-Fayed. I'd call that a bit "yes brigadey". But I'm not directing it at her, I'm talking about the yes brigade in general.

perhaps i am going slightly off topic here?...but what was the evidence of conspiracy to murder that mo Al - Fayed has against against Her Majesty The Queen And The Duke of Edinburgh? What exact evidence that lawyers have?
