Hello - I will be moving to the area either just before or just after Christmas. With my old grumpy 10 yo German Shepherd girl and 4 not so grumpy cats. Registered here to maybe find out about nice places only locals know about - organic, vegetarian/vegan laces to shop/eat for example? Dog can not walk too far but will be lucky to have Parkland Walk and Finsbury Park practically on my doorstep. Moving from Wanstead I am very much used to massive open green spaces of Wanstead Flats/Wanstead Park/Epping Forest so this is great but tips on local nice and vegan/vegetarian places to shop/eat would be great. Dog day care too actually - my girl can not stay alone at all, massive separation anxiety so when I am at work - will need someone to take her in for daytime day care.. Oh.. will post masses of questions on other threads on here - this was supposed to be just an intro. Thanks
Greetings
My partner and I have lived in N4 since 1999 and feel absolutely at home in this great, cosmopolitan neighbourhood. A friend drew our attention to sgr.org a few years ago; we have found the site really useful from time to time, so I am belatedly joining...
Some of our favourites: New Beacon Books, Urban Native, the Old Dairy, and Yak and Yeti...
... and of course the Parkland Walk.
Thanks to all for sharing your news and thoughts, both about local issues and the huge social and political challenges Londoners and everyone else face.

Hi All,
Have just been introduced to this site by my sister in law, I have lived in Stroud Green for the past 35 years, no doubt you will be hearing from me pretty soon, need to catch up and familiarise myself which all you lovely people and neighbour's, and also all the various postings on so many subjects, seems very interesting.
Hi everyone! Thanks Arkady for resolving my e-mail issues so well, I've finally managed to register after lurking for a couple of weeks.
I've lived in Stroud Green for a year come April, and I love the are and its combination of vibrancy, accessibility and relaxed atmosphere. Even though I live on the main SGR throughfare (and on top of the always-busy Jai Krishna!) I've never felt crowded out. Well, okay, those five months when Crouch Hill Overground was shut down and I had to throng into Finsbury Park in the mornings were pretty dire.
I'd love to hear more about events and happenings in the area, and as always share tips on places to go and eat. Queer-friendly places are always appreciated... I've heard rumors of a new queer night possibly popping up down on Seven Sisters Road somewhere, which I'm looking forward to.
Hello, just signed up after living here for many years. London Welsh by origin. Looking for a builder / plumber for minor non-urgent work (downpipe replacement, replastering) as my usual builder doesn't handle small jobs
Errrm … am I reading this with the wrong browser (Safari, OS X 10.11.4) as most of the posts I've seen seem to display all their HTML code which makes them tricky to read:
I have lived in Stroud Green for two and a half years. I signed up for sg.org last Autumn but only just got my email address approved - thank you Arkady. I have been reading for a while.
Hi there, My name is Valeria and I moved to Stroud Green a few months ago. I love the area and I work here as a Maths tutor (up to GCSE level) and Art tutor (Drawing and Painting. They could seem two totally different fields but I do Art and Maths since I was a child and have degrees in both subjects, I see many similarities and...like the Tao symbol...there is a bit of Maths in Art and viceversa. If you want to learn Maths in an artistic way, or Art with a more geometric approach get in touch! Looking for students now, so it would be great if you could help me spreading the word. I guarantee good results in both fields and a very empathic approach. Thanks everyone!
Hello everyone, my names Mercy from Uganda and I am looking for a lovely dog to take out for walks as I have extra time on my hands, looking forward to amazing walks if anyone interested. Thank you x
Hello. Have been living in the area on and off since 1998 and been lurking on here for some time, mainly to find recommendations after buying my flat a few years ago. Now decided to register in case I can help with recommendations...
Hi all, we are moving to Stroud Green in 2 weeks from south london. We’ve never lived north so any pub/ bars / places to eat etc etc would be welcomed! Also hoping to do some new home improvement, if anyone has recommendations for blind companies / carpet fitters / a Carpenter please let me know
I lived in and around Stroud Green from 1937 - 1948 then from 1957 - 1969. I have relatives living in CE and Muswell Hill, and a Granddaughter and boyfriend just moved to CE. My interest and input is historical. I will try to prepare a list of memories, but without disclosing personal details too much. What is the appropriate thread for this? Grandma lived until 1940 in Charteris Road then moved to Crouch Hill , where I spent WW2. A close relative was tenant of 106 Stroud Ggreen Road when it was bombed...
We love all this JohnB. There have been a few contributions on similar lines in the past. Just start any old thread called whatever you like - Stroud Green history or whatever - and write it all down. Do you remember the sweet shop on Crouch Hill opposite the station which is now a pub and just reopened as BraveSirRobin?
Ok Folks; there is so much I will try it in phases! To put a picture on here , can one paste it via the web with a link, or is there a simpler way? Re krappyrubsnif: Yes I remember that shop well; used to go there with sweet ration book - it had those big glass jars on the shelf, and we and cousins mainly bought dolly mixtures with which to play with one of those cardboard post offices with a tinplate weigh scales. I attended Holly Park cub group at the church opposite Shaftsbury Road that had a big red tower in those days. Also I remember a bomb that burst a water main near the station, and the line and road was flooded and the road was made of heavy wood blocks that floated on the water in the road as we went to the shop!

Check my new food review blog that I've recently started. Hopefully you will be able to find a review of our local places in Finsbury park and its surroundings.
Also hoping to do some new home improvement, if anyone has recommendations for blind companies / carpet fitters / a Carpenter please let me know
After this you will be judged on your worthiness to wear a jumper over your shirt.
