No, the empties were still there. Damn, I suppose I'll have to contact them. All this life admin is very wearing (while obviously in the larger scheme of things etc)
@maz i've noticed that Haringey Council has put up large banners at every entrance to Parkland Walk remining people to social distance by at least 2 metres to save lives. Still some joggers ignoring, but seemed a little better today. The bridge to Finsbury Park has also now been closed as it is much less than 2 metres wide.
Does anyone have any ideas for walking destinations up to an hour away from us? Already done Ally Pally, Queens wood, Highgate wood, 'Suicide' Bridge etc.. Any other parks or hidden open spaces?
Some post has turned up in Lorne Road. The newspaper in the bundle is two weeks old so there must be quite a backlog to catch up on. It will be interesting to read if the predictoins made two weeks ago have come true or not !
hats off to Ed who runs the Stroud Green farmers market who has completely transformed their operation to follow social distancing and delivering to people who need the service
Those of us who have been well looked-after at one time or another by the Whittington should think about supporting the staff - there is now a JustGiving page:
I've shared the Forty Walks from Ally Pally on Twitter with the hashtag #fortywalks. There's an index page, and I've photographed and shared some of the actual walk pages on request and can do others if anyone asks.
I'm posting a message from Cathy Meus, chair of the Parkland Walk about the risks of closure of the Parkland Walk if users don't observe the physical distancing rule: "Hi all - I would like to put out an important message to all users of the Parkland Walk. This important lifeline for our physical and mental wellbeing is being put at risk by a small minority of thoughtless users. Please could all people who use the Parkland Walk - walkers, runners, cyclists, dog-walkers - be sure to observe social distancing, for your own safety and that of others. In particular, runners and cyclists, please don't crowd walkers in your efforts to maintain your speed. Personal targets are less important that the health and safety of others - and yourselves. And run in single file where you encounter other users. Thank you and stay well - Cathy, Chair, Friends of the Parkland Walk.
A runner ran in to me on there the other day and shouted "get out of the fucking way". As far as I could work out he didn't want to move off the centre line.
I'm a runner and I'm not going to use parkland walk anymore I'm going to Finsbury park where I can run down the middle of the carriageway as far as possible from others. Very difficult to run or walk on Parkland Walk and keep distances or get up very early (unlikely).
Anyone know what that recorded voice trundling around the neighbourhood is saying? Presumably something along the lines of, “don’t be a nob.. stay at home”
