There can't be many organisations who can deliver volume over a very wide geography. 40k sent out yesterday so the government could "make" it's number. Every one of those 40 k is an individual delivery at the other end.
I think they also pick up the completed test to go back to the lab.
I also had an email informimg me that normal Saturday deliveries are currently suspended.
We've not had any mail since Monday on Mount Pleasant Crescent..I get they're under the cosh and don't mind that much. But would be great if they could somehow publish somewhere which rounds they're doing..
and what is in the backlog of undelivered mail. Some communication wouldn't go amiss, but the last time I looked their website had no local details - just trumping their contract to deliver test-kits.
There's a sign in Tesco's window saying NHS staff can go to the front of the queue. I'm working crazy hours in the NHS, but I think I'd feel really glared at flashing my ID and pushing in. Has anyone seen this taking place?
I wouldn’t object to that, although health workers might be better off staying with the reserved hours for them, as (as I found today) about half the shoppers in Tesco are cretins: they observe the physical distancing while queueing to go in or for the tills, but in the shop they mill around, ignore the flow signs on the floor, and stand close together. One can only hope that natural selection will spruce up the gene pool a tad.
Of course the RM was unprepared for a pandemic. Everyone was unprepared. How do you prepare for 30-60% of your staff shielding/self-isolating/being sick, with almost no notice? Posties can't work from home; and security vetting means they can't ramp up recruitment particularly fast.
The Thursday clapping on Mount View Road has turned into a jam. The cellist and the guitarist, who were previously entertaining us separately, have now joined forces. The pot bangers add a light percussion. It's all rather festival-like and jovial and communal and weirdly primeval. I know my neighbours better in some small but fundamental way. I feared I was going to start to find it irritating, but now I'm rather hoping it outlasts the crisis.
Me too. A week or two ago I thought it was going to die a quiet death but no.....maybe more people and some new ones tonight. I've met quite a few neighbours.
Hi everyone, are people still experiencing a delay in getting their post? I’m on Oakfield Road and haven’t had anything delivered for over a week now. I’m confused as I think the postman who was sick returned weeks ago and the other who had been on paternity leave has been back for many weeks now. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues and do you know what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

I guess it depends on were it's coming from and how overwhelmed the different sorting offices are
