Does Haringey permit barbecuing in Finsbury Park (assuming that's what you meant)?
I thought Islington was one of the few councils that allowed barbecuing in their parks - at least I think they allow it on at least some part of Highbury Fields...
Well, I thought the strike is really about station staff and ticket offices, with the tube drivers just joining in for the sake of solidarity. Although all the talk of driverless trains is hardly going to help get the drivers on side...
In case anyone missed the news, two more tube strikes planned:
The first strike from Monday evening to Wednesday evening next week. The second strike the following week, from the evening of the May Day Bank holiday until Thursday evening.

OMG, I just tried posting after midnight, just for the hell of it..... And I didn't turn into a pumpkin? (EDIT: Oh, I vaguely remember we get until 1am during summer time?)
Re war zone: Yes, most of us did make that effort, I'm sure. At my workplace I think we all made it in, with very few of us being significantly late.
I don' see what's wrong with sharing our experience of what transport options worked well or less…
Probably only moderately useful to SG'ers but Northern line from Archway into central London around 8.45am or so was busy but not manic... (as in, was a squeeze, but I got onto the first train)

Yes, I wasn't very clear, I meant the outside of the concert area. I
agree though, there's a lot of rubbish blown through the railings by the
railway. The bit where the old boats and compost bins are, really
bothers me. There's a creepy…
I'm thinking of signing up with Car 2 Go. Currently they have an arrangement with Islington to allow free use of Pay and Display bays and also residents bays. Looks like Sutton still allows use of Pay and Display bays but no longer of residents ba…
Are the bar staff perhaps not British, and possibly failing to understand the relatively subtle way we British make known we're waiting to be served?
I noticed this with bus drivers - a few years ago I started putting my arm out to signal I wanted …

I'm not sure any democratic institution should be using a software platform where someone else is allowed to dictate what software they may and may not run
Although a happy(ish) Virgin customer, and I would point out that I don't know of *any* consumer Internet provider that doesn't have scores of unhappy people bitching about them on the Internet....
I would say that Virgin seem to be pretty incompet…
I'm here. Can't see anyone I remember from last time but then I don't really remember much from last time :-)
Anyway I'm the goth with the distinctive footwear... (That probably wouldn't really identify me usefully in a room full of goths but is …
Not exactly local, but I'd like to recommend KG Shoes, Eversholt Street, near Mornington Crescent. Alegedly they have the contract to do shoe repairs for Harods, and the Queen's shoes have passed through their workshops - although I guess that latt…
I wonder if the Coronet is a bit of a Jeckyll and Hyde, much like the Regal in Cambridge. That, too, is a very large, city centre Wetherspoon's pub.
I would never, ever, go to the Regal on a Friday or Saturday night, when it's packed full of 18-20…
@Arkady.... as I understood it they were built as double-helix staircases. So the ceiling above you is essentially the floor of the other, intertwined, staircase.
It should be possible to determine this, since if that's true walking 360 degrees ro…
