  • Surely that can't be correct - £15,000 per week? Decimal points missing?
  • The door on Vista ground floor was open this morning and I had a look in. The space is really tiny, it looked barely bigger than a petrol station supermarket. Smaller than the ex-Woody's Sainsbury's I think.
  • The building appears to be called Vista House, so I guess the original developer (a representative of whom used to post on here) has stayed throughout, despite contractors going bust etc. You still there Vista, to give us an update?
  • This is now the third time we've had the LMO do a Christmas Concert and it's always a great evening. A really good orchestra, a chance to see the inside of an interesting local building, mince pies and mulled wine at half-time, and a Christmas carol…
  • The Vista site is definitely a Sainsbury's, as there are alcohol licence notices up in their name. So I presume all the planning etc has gone their way. I think it's too small to be a proper supermarket, I'm guessing it's not going to be much bigger…
  • I got 16. But the point is that people learn these exact things to prepare for the test, which obviously makes it more likely they will pass. But my main problem is why you would ask people to learn some of these things (eg the exact year in the 19t…
  • Just repeating Donna's question above. It must be close to opening now so they must know which shop(s) will be going in?
  • @Ian yes that still happens but the control is much more limited than usual and things like this can get added on.
  • Not new sadly. Older readers may remember Brian Mawhinney delighting the Tory Conference with a story about how his idiot bureaucrats had given a grant to an Asian Women's Hopscotch Group. Of course the organisation turned out to be terribly worthy …
  • None. Parliamentary Constituency boundaries don't I think have a strong bearing on where people perceive a place to be. I prefer living here to the many years I lived in Tottenham but I'm not troubled by a boundary change that just has an effect on …
  • Fair point to make, but your comic book shop owner might not thank you for doing so publicly? Or is this a form of illegality that no one cares about or bothers to enforce?
  • Tour was very much worth going on. Much building still to be done but you get a good idea of how it will be. Great to see such enthusiasm from the people behind it, and a good turnout from locals. It left me feeling I can't wait for it to open next …
  • Haringey does have matchday controls but Crouch Hill seems a bit far from the ground to have them there. I think the controls go up as far as Tollington Park or maybe Stapleton.
  • When did rainbow carnage suddenly reappear? Welcome back.
  • Yes it's Jai Krishna - the colours behind give it away. But I would never have got it from the bird. These photos are just proving to me how unobservant I am.
  • Is that a penguin's beak? It looks familiar but I can't place it.
  • So that'll be 1923 but I'm no nearer.
  • Good news. Just out of curiosity, how far away was that (and how long ago did they own him)?
  • I did wonder if you were a doctor, what with being named after a cancer drug. Or is that a coincidence?
  • There are often 3 behind the bar, and Pat steps in too. But it's not a huge bar space. The quiz varies wildly - this week was an aberration. I quite like the variety. I've been going over 2 years, but I wouldn't have said it was ever fiendish, com…
  • ADGS - yes, 4 prizes, 5 teams on 30 out of 30. At least there were no rabbit-based questions. Ewok village is actually the source of the problems described above. This is what happens when you expand hugely the sitting/ drinking space in a pub but…
  • As I said at the time, I'm with Ian on the 5 a side plan. But on the running track (and that whole complex) I have to say I've never been inside it and have always seen it as a rather closed off and isolated part of the park. Who actually uses it?…
  • I thought from previous threads that most people just cycled through the main bit of the bus station. Has anyone ever been stopped/ challenged/ fined for doing that?
  • @Arkady, do you mean this one or the John Jones one?
  • Either that or watch too much Grand Designs.
  • Not the Fullback organising it, it's some residents (we got a note through the door). Not sure it's very highly organised - it's on a "bring along some food and drink" basis. But if it goes ahead I daresay the Fullback will complement nicely whateve…
  • I don't see a big problem with this. But I would have thought they might have taken the opportunity to remove the match day controls from the zones further from Finsbury Park. They never rejigged for the Highbury-Emirates move, and I doubt anyone pa…
  • Interesting different approach from the Islington plan that caused so much comment. People will end up recycling more because their normal bin will otherwise get too full. Good to get wheelie bins for recycling, the current boxes are too small and s…
  • If it's cable then forget about mobile reception, it will have nothing to do with it. Virgin can drive you mad when there are outages but my one has been pretty problem-free for 2 years or so and good speeds. There is discussion, including a fix t…
