@WillM, without going back to have a look, I'm a bit confused by your description as 'the 2nd of the 2 mainline railway bridges on SGR...the one nearer to the Wells Terrace exit'. I always thought there were actually four railway bridges. In which case....
You are probably right though. Maybe this will help.
Yeah, that's the one I had in mind. The first of the bridges as you go down SGR towards Seven Sisters Road.
I'd always thought of the bridges as a pair, with each supporting a few rail tracks, but I take your point that you can see each of them as separate bridges.
Eh?!?!
Misscarnal: speak for yourself. The new manager didn't upset us. Look, our depilatory Wednesdays, the Pie 'n' Fisting group, and our monthly "let's see how much bigger Lauren's size-17 head gets" clubs are contentedly continuing at the WLOM. Which is why I'm glad to see you ended your "boycott" tonight.
Your round.

I'm shutting down my laptop for five whole days now so you'll have to work this one out for yourselves. When I return, I'll be a normal, sunny, alert, happy-go-lucky individual, instead of the whey-faced, broken-backed, mentally fogged and terminally depresssed computer junkie I see in the mirror now. Er....how will I cope?
I like this thread a lot. It's been encouraging me to look at the fixtures and fittings in the area. Hornsey Road isn't the seething brick pit of despair it appears to be on first glance, for example.

He's everywhere, but what's his real name?
@choaspes - no. Why?
*Evil laugh*

Where is this ornate piece of ceramic found?
On the off-chance that this is too easy, if previous winners could whisper their answer, it will allow others to have a go as well.
On the off-chance it's too easy, I'll show a wider view in about 24 hours.
PS nobody got the correct answer to the last question - it's a David Phillips sign all right, but his real name, so he tells me, is David Copestake.
'fraid it isn't the Old Dairy.
