What an intrusion. Myself and my pigeon friends enjoy liberal democracy and the right to freedom of conscience more than you'd think possible. But when people put up huge garish signs trying to ram their beliefs down our narrow gullets, we draw a red line. I'll be objecting.

Hi all

I've just found out about the Dagmar Road application to knock down an existing Victorian end of terrace in the Conservation area in order to rebuild 3 houses on the plot.

Does anyone have experience of objecting to this kind of application, or know someone who might be able to help us? Seems like it goes against everything a conservation area stands for and we need to put together strong arguments.

Many thanks.
Dagmar Road resident

Hi

i have read the application and it looks like apart from knocking down a victorian house, they will demolish an empty and ugly industrial complex that is been disused for many years. It looks pretty depressing right now, and i guess that the area will benefit a lot from a proper construction. The area seems abandoned and derelict. The victorian house is next to a yard which is filled with rubbish (i had a look at the pictures in the application file, so i might be wrong).

I agree that knocking down a Victorian house is not the best thing to do, but what about the industrial area? Since you live there is that something that is really needed right now?

I don't have any experience in objecting applications, but maybe they could limit the renovation to the disused industrial area and keep the victorian house. This will definitely improve the quality of life of people living there who will not stare at an ugly piece of derelict land?

Well anyway, hopefully the decision will be the best for the residents.

Cheers

Thanks for your messages. I actually don't have a problem with building on the disused industrial area (currently some sheds/garage buildings), but feel that knocking down part of a terrace in a conservation area isn't ideal. Do you know of any precedent for this elsewhere in Stroud Green?

I have noticed that a side extensoin is bing built on the corner of Albert and Victoria Roads using modern bricks.

It is very noticable so was wondering if thsi is allowed in a conservation zone ?

Good on you it will look terriable as the whole wall all the way down the Albert Road side is now these new bricks. They may try and render them but again thatswil be quite a change. This has the look of a bit work to "add" value and sell on so no concern about what is left for the rest of us.
